What PaymentMath does
PaymentMath gives straight answers to money questions: what a mortgage really costs each month including property tax, insurance, PMI and HOA dues; how much interest an extra payment saves; what a car or personal loan will cost in total; and how savings grow. Every result shows the formula used and works in your browser, so no numbers are sent anywhere.
Where the numbers come from
Payments use the standard amortization formula. Property tax estimates use U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey data by state and ZIP code, and home insurance defaults use NAIC and Insurance Information Institute averages. Rates you enter are yours; PaymentMath never shows a rate as a quote or offer. See the editorial policy for how pages are checked.
